Nerul rout Sangolda Lightning

Nerul United Club stormed into the final defeating youthful Sangolda Lightning 3-0 in Al-Javeed Jewellers 36th Bandodkar memorial soccer at MPT ground, here on Tuesday.
Nerul led 1-0 at the breather through Augusto Monteiro, while in second half Monteiro completed his brace and Pankaj Fondekar rounded off the tally.
Though, Nerul dominated the first half proceedings, the Sangolda lads gave Nerul a good fight.
Nerul shot into the lead in the 15th minute after a move initiated by Pankaj Fondekar. The last named sent Michael Monteiro through and essayed it to John Vaz who in turn squared it to a better placed Augusto Monteiro, who sent in a deft placement past bewildered Sangolda goalkeeper Devraj Tari.
Crossing over, the teams relied on short passes with Govind Balekar, Agnelo Quadors, Sanford Franco and Tome Alvares of Sangolda creating several goal bound moves but the alert Nerul defense led by Agnelo Monnteiro and Avinash Pereira thwarted their moves.
In the 55th minute, hardworking Augusto doubled the lead and completed his brace after receiving a pass from John Vaz.
At the fag end, opportunistic Pankaj Fondekar scored the third goal after Maulali Naik had done the spade work.
