PANJIM: On the removal of Goa Dental College Dr Ida de Noronha de Athaide as dean, there was a foul cry by legislators on what they called the replacement of an honest and upright person on instructions of the personnel department (headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar).
“There will not be any accountability. By the time, the new dean understands the functioning of the hospital, it will be time for the next rotation. If these institutions have rotations, then why the CM does not rotate (his portfolio)? Give deputy CM (Francis D’Souza) the CM’s post and rotate further,” Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai said expressing his opposition to the government’s move.
After a series of verbal attack on the government on various issues, another independent legislator Naresh Sawal while applauding the Health Department for its cleanliness and the starting of new facilities in the GMC demanded an investigation into the blood bank scam.
This was also supported by former Health Minister and MLA Vishwajeet Rane who wanted that the “government should come with an assertive hand on blood bank.”
He also felt that the GMC was overloaded.
Nuvem’s Goa Vikas Party MLA Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco, requested the government to properly allot working shifts of the doctors in the GMC to ensure they are present in the hospital during weekends.
