Coconut Plucker Dies in Tragic Accident After Rope Gets Caught in Passing Truck

PERNEM: A tragic incident unfolded in Mandrem when a 57-year-old coconut plucker Sagun Parsekar lost his life to due alleged negligence of a truck driver on Thursday. According to eye witnesses, Parsekar was plucking coconuts and had climbed the tree with the support of a rope at around 7.15 at Dandoswada, Mandrem.

As the truck driver Satendra was passing by, a bystander signalled him to stop but he proceeded and the rope got stuck to the truck, pulling Parsekar down from the tree.

Parsekar suffered grievous injuries and was immediately referred to Community Health Centre (CHC), Tuem, where he was declared as brought-dead.

His body was sent to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for post-mortem, police said.
