Ukrainian dies in Candolim

CALANGUTE: Road mishaps continued to claim more lives in the State as an Ukranian national died on the spot while two youth were seriously injured in a road mishap at Candolim on Sunday evening.

CALANGUTE: Road mishaps continued to claim more lives in the State as an Ukranian national died on the spot while two youth were seriously injured in a road mishap at Candolim on Sunday evening. According to Calangute police, the incident took place at about 7.30 pm when a Russian national Oleg Akhliuftin was riding an Activa scooter (GA-03-K-9741), with Vevhen Hrynow (23) of Ukraine as the pillion rider, from Nerul to Candolim. As they reached near the John Service centre at Candolim, the scooter collided with an oncoming Splendor motorcycle (GA-07-D-2932).
Hrynow was thrown off the scooter and fell on the road and died on the spot from severe injuries, while the motorcycle rider, Gaurishankar (26) of Nerul and pillion rider Anwar Alam (25) of Candolim sustained grievous injuries. Calangute police is investigating the case.
