The Bombay High Court has issued notices to the Goa government, Crime Branch and other respondents on a petition filed by former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat in the 2015 Louis Berger bribery case. Kamat has challenged a trial court order rejecting his plea to arraign three chargesheet witnesses as accused. The three individuals are Ramprasad Malladi, Sanjay Jindal and Prasanna Shah.
During the hearing, Kamat’s lawyer argued that the three witnesses should also face charges, referring to statements allegedly indicating their involvement in the bribery transaction. Kamat has maintained that he was not involved in the alleged transaction and that there is no evidence against him apart from the statements of these witnesses.

The High Court has also allowed Kamat to approach the trial court seeking deferment of the framing of charges. The next relevant proceedings are expected before the trial court on September 24, while the High Court has fixed October 1 as the returnable date for the notices.
