While it may seem considerably tough to keep working on anxiety relieving techniques all the time, here are a few quick practices that may do the trick.

1. Try Meditation – it may not be the most convenient idea but guided meditation has proved to be effective in relieving long-term as well as momentary anxiety. Hence, try and take a few minutes each day to practice mindfulness, concentration, muscle relaxation and inculcating a deeper sense of understanding your sensory system.

2. Go in for guided imagery – this simply involves imagination. Imagine yourself to be in a ‘happy place’ whenever you feel uneasy or stressed out and imagine a scenario where everything turns out as per your expectation. Picture yourself solving the problem to the best of your ability. Sometimes, when you manifest, it occurs.

3. Listen to music – they say, music always makes things better. Hence, whenever in a stressful situation, belting out the lyrics of a favourite song may make everything seem alright.

4. Expose yourself to brightness – if it is a bright and sunny day outside, exposing yourself to some sunlight can help uplift the spirits when you are feeling down and out. Exposure to sunlight has been found to be a major winner when it comes to reducing stress and cheering one up during dark times.

5. Exercise – a major cause of increased anxiety and stress is also a lack of physical activity in one’s life. Hence, getting used to a regularised exercise routine and sticking to it can be extremely useful in keeping the negativity out of one’s mind. Start with simple exercises such as brisk walking and eventually up the game by practicing stretching, cardio exercises, running and so on. The adrenaline rush is simply delightful and puts a person back on the wagon of a happy ‘high’.

6. Spend time with yourself – sometimes, the solution to difficult situations lies within where one just must take a moment and listen to one’s inner voice. Hence, it is vital to understand that you need some lonesome time when you are anxious in order to collect your thoughts and clear your mind.

7.    Munch on something sweet – try having a piece of your favourite chocolate when you feel that things are not going your way and you to become increasingly anxiety-struck. The intake of something sweet has proved to be an effective technique for reducing stress, and it does work. Try it, but do not go overboard!

8. Talk to someone – whenever one is stressed or anxious, communication is found to be of great help. Simply speaking to someone you trust or sharing the cause of your anxiety with another person can make you feel instantly better. When something is really bothering you, try venting it to someone rather than keeping it pent up within. Emitting it does make one feel happier.

9. Keep yourself motivated – this may seem unrealistic, but it is important to keep yourself always motivated to achieve your goal. The path to success is a tough one. It brings across multiple hurdles that could cause intense stress and anxiety leading to derailing a person well before attaining the ultimate levels of self-actualisation. You are allowed to feel low, but do not let the motivation die out.

10. Just breathe – that is the first thing anyone would say to themselves when they are nervous or anxious. Take a step back, relax and just breathe! Remind yourself of your efforts and the pain you have endured so far to reach where you are today. Being in control of your breathing pattern enhances the balance between your mind and body.

Remember, life is not easy. Stress and anxiety are going to be there all along. The key is to accept their existence and keep finding ways to minimise them. Cheers!
