PANJIM: In Goa and defending champions Tarun Bharat entered the semi-finals of Vijay Gad memorial inter-media cricket tournament, organised by the Sports Journalists Association of Goa, played at Campal ground.
In Goa defeated The Goan by 45 runs in the first match on Tuesday. Put into bat, In Goa scored 107 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 10 overs.
Raj Pawar was the top scorer for In Goa with 36 runs from 18 balls. In reply, The Goan could only reach a total of 62/8 in the allotted 10 overs. Shailesh Barve scored 19 runs. In Goa’s Pranay Malik and Sanket Naik picked up two wickets each. Pranay was named Man-of-the-Match for his all-round performance.
In the second match of the day, defending champions Tarun Bharat beat Times of India by eight wickets. Times of India could only post a modest total of 60 runs losing six wickets, in the allotted 10 overs. Keshav Naik scored 11 and Rajtilak Naik made 10 runs. Tarun Bharat’s Mahesh Konekar picked up two wickets.
Tarun Bharat got off to a good start in their chase with openers putting on 46 runs partnership. Anil Bandiwadekar top scored with 29 runs off 19 balls. Tarun Bharat reached the victory target in 6.5 overs, losing just two wickets. Anil Bandiwadekar was named Man-of-the-Match.
