Verna Sports Club defeated Pomburpa Sports Club 3-1 in Frank Pires memorial soccer tournament at Gonvol ground, Shiroda on Thursday. Verna led 1-0 at half-time.
Pomburpa displayed an attacking game but the Verna defenders were able to put down all attacks. In the 15th minute Verna scored their first goal through Eusebio Fernandes. Changing over, Pomburpa were on the offensive but could not score. Verna increased their lead with Wilson and John scoring a goal each. Pomburpa scored their only goal through Alloyn Mendes.
