MARGAO: The dispute between the levy collection contractor and South Goa Planning And Development Authority (SGPDA) reaching its peak, the Fatorda Police have been on their toes to make sure there is discipline and no unauthorised trade of fish outside the market yard.
The areas outside the wholesale fish market fall under the Margao Municipal Council. However, because of the ups and downs in the MMC and its Chief Officer’s chair, the incidents of unauthorised fish sale outside the Market yard have increased.
The Fatorda Police led by Police Inspector Kapil Nayak are conducting foot patrolling in and around wholesale fish market to ensure removal of all vehicles and fish vendors selling fish on the roads, obstructing smooth flow of traffic.
There was a need for the MMC and SGPDA to step in and put an end to the crisis. However, the crisis within the authority and Council has affected the market and areas controlled by the agencies.
