PANJIM: Mopa Vimantal Pidit Xetkari Samiti (MVPXS) on Tuesday alleged that the government has crossed all boundaries and is terrorising and harassing farmers by deploying over 150 policemen. The samiti also denied that local residents had obstructed officials from carrying out work related to the international airport.
Addressing the media, MVPXS Secretary Sandeep Kambli said, “The government has crossed all the boundaries of democracy by forcibly entering the entire land which is presently under dispute at the NGT and Supreme Court.”
He further said that the absence of Form-9 clearly indicates that the process of transfer of ownership has not been completed alleging that the vital part of mutation procedure for lakhs of square meters of land requires the approval of the Goa Governor along with the President of India, which is not done.
The samiti also demanded that the government not disturb the local environment till the appeals filed against environment clearance are heard.
“Recently they held soil testing that too without consent of locals. This has given clear indication that there are plans to begin extraction of bauxite ore from the plateau, a considerable part of which is agricultural land, for which the locals are awaiting irrigation facilities. Levelling the plateau would then be the only priority of the so called authorities,” he said.
