PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay Goa on Thursday acquitted infamous double murder accused Pratima Naik of Vasco and ordered her immediate release.
On March 29, 2017, the Sessions Court, Margao convicted and sentenced Pratima to undergo life imprisonment for murdering her mother-in-law Ushas Naik (59) and sister-in-law Neha Naik (29) at Vasco. The murder was reported in January 2015.
The Division Bench comprising Justices Dama Seshadri Naidu and M S Jawalkar acquitted Pratima of the offence punishable under Section 302, 380 as well as offence punishable under Section 328 of IPC.
The Court quashed and set aside the Sessions Court’s judgement and ordered her release immediately, if not required in any other offence. She was presently lodged at Central Modern Jail, Colvale.
