39 clubs directed to submit nominees, deadline today

PANJIM: The Goa Cricket Association imbroglio continued on Monday as there was no order passed on Secretary Chetan Desai’s writ petition in the Bombay High Court at Goa regarding the proxy nominations of the affiliated clubs ahead of the elections.

Desai had demanded that the voting should be done by the secretary or the president of the clubs. The notices were served on Friday to the individuals allegedly involved in the turmoil.
However, in a u-turn, Desai was reinstated on as the secretary for the second time in a week on Saturday by GCA President Shekhar Salkar. 
However, on the same day Dr Salkar was directed by the Election Committee to inform the 39 clubs, who had not submitted their nominee by due date to submit their president or secretary’s name who will be coming to vote in the elections of the Managing Committee on June 28.
Dr Salkar’s lawyers have asked for a day’s time to file in their replies. The next hearing will be on Tuesday morning.  
The 39 clubs are Al-Fatah CC, Badem SC, Betim SCC, Bogda YC, Chopdem SC, Curchorem Gymkhana, Curchorem YCC, Dempo CC, Goa Sports Academy Xavier Brothers, International SC, Iqbal XI, Jetty CC, Karimabad SC, Khorlim XI, La-Paz Garden CC, Leo SC, Madel Yuvak Sangh, Margao CC, MPT SC, National CC, Navhind CC, NIO SC, Panjim Gymkhana, Paramount SC, Pirazona CC, Porvorim CA, Rudreshwar Yuvak Sangh, Salgaocar SC, Shuttlers Club, Sparkling Stars Association, Stamina CC, Stamina SC, Sunny SC, Union CC (Mapusa), Union SC (Marcela), Vaibhav SC, Vividha SC, Young Stars of Moula and Youth SC of Khandola.
The photo and letter of nomination signed by president and secretary with the seal of the club has to reach the GCA election office by June 23, at 5 p.m.
