Vasco: Union Minister of Industries Trade and Commerce Suresh Prabhu inaugurated India’s first Geographical Indication products store at the Goa International Airport on Monday. The store has been aimed at giving a place to showcase and sell local products unique to Goa.
The Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated the store in presence of Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardessai, MP Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar and Airport Director B.C.H. Negi. Suresh Prabhu said that Agricultural, local spirits, foods, handicrafts or local industrial products will be showcased at airports across India. The store at Goa will have products produced locally like Cashew Cashew Feni, Mangoes and other unique local Goan produce.
“This store of GI is aimed at giving a platform for local farmers and youth to sell their produce and make a living”, said Suresh Prabhu.
