Criticising Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar’s proposal to shift two EDMs from the coastline to Usgao to avoid traffic congestion on roads leading to coastal belt during peak tourist season, Congress Organising Secretary Durgadas Kamat and Marcaim Congress Block President Sandeep Naik said they would oppose any such plans to permit the EDM events at Usgao.
Addressing media persons, Kamat and Naik alleged that the EDMs would ruin the lives of Goans, as these were nothing but outlets to promote drugs, prostitution and sex in the name of tourism in the State.
“The government should totally ban or stop such EDMs or drug parties in Goa. There are so many places in the world to organise such events. It is not an international festival like IFFI, but EDM festivals are private events and government is supporting it,” claimed Kamat.
“Ponda is a temple city and the cultural capital with a lot of activities. People from Ponda should never allow such events in the taluka.”
He has hoped that PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar will oppose the move to shift the EDM festivals to Ponda taluka.
