PANJIM: Ten firms from both Goa and other states applied for the e-auction of ore which is expected to start in the first week of February 2014. However, as none of the firms have registered with Indian Bureau of Mines, they have been asked to register themselves.
The mining department had declared on its website that there are 764-odd metric tonnes at 316 sites in the state, with some of the dumps existing within the lease and some being outside.
The application will contain all the details relating to applicant like name, address, nationality, valid registration number given by IBM under Rule 45 of MCDR, 1988, contact number like fax number, mobile number, official telephone number, e-mail ID which shall be used for communicating on subject of e-auction including providing user ID and password for e-auction.
Application will also have a statement that applicant has internet access to participate in e-auction. The application should also have a declaration stating that all the information furnished is true and that applicant either directly or indirectly was not involved in any illegal mining activity in the State of Goa and if the same is found to be false, the department may disqualify the applicant from e-auction and forfeit the EMD.
The court had appointed a committee including Dr U V Singh to oversee the
e-auction of ore that was at stockyards. The committee has already visited the state and the final reports are expected in February after which the final decision should be taken by
the court – probably around March.
