With the number of COVID-19 positive cases on the downslide, beaches in Goa are getting crowded with local tourists. One such beach which gets crowded with picnickers, especially on Sundays is the Hollant Beach, near Bogmalo.
The beach attracts large crowds because there are no waves in the sea over here which makes it an ideal spot for taking a dip even for children.
However, it is observed that the massive retaining wall on one side has given way as a result of the uprooting of a coconut tree as seen in the photo. This has left a gaping hole in the retaining wall.
This is a favourite spot for the families to have a picnic. But then the breached wall poses danger to the public especially the children as a fall here could land one on the large stones below or even in the sea water. The concerned authorities need to carry out repair work of this retaining wall on a war-footing to prevent an untoward incident.
