PONDA: Heavy police security was deployed at the Sai Baba Temple in Borim as a long-standing power struggle between the local Gaonkari community and the Sai Baba Seva Mandal Trust escalated over the administration and management of the shrine.
Police detained approximately 20 to 25 members of the Gaonkari community who had gathered at the temple premises to voice their claims. Meanwhile, members of the Sai Baba Seva Mandal Trust were escorted inside the temple under strict police protection to maintain law and order.
The preventive detentions and heavy police presence follow heightened friction between the two groups over administrative rights, prompting authorities to step in to prevent potential violent clashes on the temple grounds.
