PANJIM: A day after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar vowed to expose the double standards of the Congress on the issue of coal handling and river nationalisation, the opposition welcomed the move challenging the former to come clean on the matter.
“Let him, please, expose the Congress…do it soon…,” senior Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco told media persons on Thursday.
“Why does he need to wait till the Assembly? Let him come out clean on this matter as soon as possible,” Lourenco said, adding that he has submitted all the documents exposing the BJP government’s anti-people policies on the issue of expansion of coal handling facility and nationalisation of rivers. “But Parrikar has done nothing,” he added.
Congress has decided to take up the issues in the House during the winter session of the Assembly, beginning from December 13.
“We will take up the issue in the Assembly. The CLP will be meeting next week to decide how to go about it,” Lourenco said.
The party also condemned Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho’s statement, wherein he said that the resolutions passed by Gram Sabhas and panchayats are not barriers to the government plan on nationalisation and coal issues. The party has demanded a public apology from the Minister terming it as an insult to the Constitution and detrimental to panchayat bodies.
