MARGAO: The Nationalist Congress Party, Goa on Thursday disclosed that it will stick to the eight seats demand if there is an alliance with the Congress. September 15 is the deadline given to Congress to come clear on an alliance.
“Valanka Alemao will be contesting the Navelim Constituency but not on the NCP ticket,” stated NCP Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao.
On the other hand, Churchill has demanded a CBI inquiry in the Siddhi Naik death case.
Addressing the media persons at his Varca office, Churchill informed that the NCP has urged the Congress to share the seats of Nuvem, Benaulim, Velim and other few where there is no existence of Congress MLA.
“If no alliance with the Congress then NCP will field a candidate even in Curtorim, besides other constituencies,” the Benaulim MLA said.
“We will wait till September 15 for the Congress decision, and thereafter the NCP will decide upon how to go alone in the upcoming Assembly elections. The NCP will field candidates even against the Congress candidates, including Curtorim,” Churchill said.
When asked about the Navelim Constituency, he said that his daughter Valanka will be contesting in Navelim but not on the NCP ticket.
“Most probably she will contest as an independent candidate and she has already started her campaigning in the constituency,” he added.
