PANJIM: The members of OBC/SC/ST communities on Sunday staged protest at Azad Maidan, here demanding reservation of seats for students in post-graduation in medicine.
The protestors demanded that the government should immediately reserve seats for students belonging to their communities seeking admission to post-graduate programmes such as MD/MS/DNB in Goa Medical College and the Goa Dental College at Bambolim.

They said that demand to reserve seats for students for PG courses is pending for more than 14 years and that the government was giving empty promises.
Gomantak Bhandari Samaj President Ashok Naik demanded that the government should resolve this issue as it was as per the Constitution. He said that students belonging to these communities have excelled in post-graduate examinations but today they have been denied jobs.
Prof Ramarao Wagh, Subhash Kerkar and other also spoke.
Meanwhile, during a programme at Ponda, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Sunday expressed confidence that the Scheduled Tribes (ST) communities would get reservation of Assembly seats in the next Assembly polls. He said that he has discussed this issue with President Draupadi Murmu in Delhi and also with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. As per the reservation, ST communities would get four seats reserved.
