Of late there have been several accidents, some fatal ones, involving trucks. A girl was mowed down at Bhatpal by a truck while she was standing at the bus stop as the driver apparently lost control over the over-loaded truck. It must be said that one of the main reasons for such accidents is over-loading of the trucks.
When trucks carry loads more than the prescribed limit the driver tends to loose control over the vehicle. Due to the heavy weight even the brakes of the trucks become ineffective. There have even been several instances of overloaded trucks over-turning at sharp turns. These overloaded trucks pose a grave danger to the general public as well as the occupants of the trucks.
It appears that no check is being kept on the trucks which carry loads beyond a prescribed limit by the police authorities. As a result of this laxity monstrous looking trucks carrying huge loads are seen plying on the roads. Such trucks should be booked and stopped from proceeding further as the pose a threat to human life.
