AGENCIES, HYDERABAD: Goa’s Tanisha Crasto along with her partner Ishaan Bhatnagar from Chhattisgarh won the Mixed Doubles bronze at the Yonex Sunrise All India Senior Ranking badminton tournament, at Hyderabad.
The pair, which won bronze last year in the Junior Nationals Badminton played their hearts out in this senior category event to win a medal.
In the quarter-finals, they registered a thrilling 19-21, 21-12, 21-14 win over S Krishna S / Kanika Kanwal.
In the semi-finals, they went down fighting to Krishna Prasad / Ashwini Bhat, losing 24-26, 17-21 in a closely contested match.
It was a commendable performance by the 16 year old Tanisha, playing her first tournament this season in senior ranking category.
Tanisha who also played in Women’s doubles along with her partner Aditi Bhatt from Uttarakhand reached the pre- quarter finals in that event.
Tanisha / Aditi knocked out number three seeds Agna Anto / Ashna Roy 21-10, 21-15 before succumbing to a heart-breaking 21-18, 4-21, 2-18 loss to Harika V. / Akshaya Warang in the pre– quarter-finals.
