PANJIM: In a late night crackdown on an alleged sex racket in the capital, Panjim police rescued three young girls and arrested two men.
Sameer Khan originally from Indore and Santosh Kurade from Kolhapur were caught while allegedly delivering the girls – Kolkatta, Bangalore and Delhi natives – to a decoy customer. Panjim PI Siddhant Shirodkar, who led the raiding team in a joint operation with an NGO, said the girls were trafficked to Goa for the illegal trade. The accused have been booked for ‘dealing’ and transporting the victims.
The girls have been sent to the Protective Home at Merces where their statement will be recorded before a government appointed panel. It is learnt that one of these girls had flown to Goa from Mumbai on Saturday morning. Goa police are on a massive crackdown on prostitution rackets operating in the State.
