PANJIM: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has cancelled his Goa visit, where he was scheduled to inaugurate the Khandepar Bridge on December 23.
A statement issued by Directorate of Information and Publicity (DIP) said that the visit has been cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances. The Union Minister was to have initially visited Goa on December 10 to inaugurate the bridge, but this was postponed due to his sudden ill health.
DIP said that in absence of Gadkari, Minister of State for Transport and Highways Mansukh Laxman Mandaviya, will inaugurate the bridge at 7pm.
Along with him Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik, State PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, MP Narendra Sawaikar and Sanvordem MLA Deepak Prabhu Pauskar will be present.
The protesting mining dependents had announced they would not allow Gadkari to inaugurate the bridge and seek his response on the mining resumption issue.
