PANJIM: After holding a press conference to slam Congress’ ‘lies’ on the Rafale jet deal and claim that the Supreme Court verdict vindicated the government’s stand that there was no financial wrongdoing in the matter, the Goa BJP has sought AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s removal from the post “in the interest of national security”.
The party’s office bearers submitted a representation to President Ram Nath Kovind through the Collectors in both districts on Thursday, demanding his removal for ‘behaving insensitive on the matter’.
“After the Supreme Court’s judgment whatever Rahul Gandhi and the Congress had said about the Rafale agreement are found to be blatant lies. We demand that in the interest of national security and the international image of the country, Rahul Gandhi should be removed from the position of public servant for playing with such an important issue of national security,” the petition states.
The party also brought to the fore that the AICC president was misleading the people of the country with inaccurate facts. “This is a serious issue and such campaigns malign the image of the country at the international level. His behaviour and acts in the matter have been insensitive to the security and safety of the country,” it further said seeking immediate action against the Congress leader.
