MAPUSA: Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Ryan Braganza has strongly criticized the slow pace of development works in the town
Addressing the gathering on Goa Liberation Day at Hutatma Chowk, Mapusa, he stressed the need to commence the work on the new Mapusa bus stand which will solve several problems in the town.
“I have noticed that there are several procedural lapses and delays which have hampered development works. The people are frustrated and are venting their anger as they want to see development in Mapusa. I appeal to all the officials to work in individual capacity so that there are no delays. If we want to see the proper development of Mapusa we need to make sure that works are carried out in a time bound manner and proper follow-ups are done,” he said.
Freedom fighter Jairam Sirsat hoisted the tricolor in the presence Chief Officer Clen Madeira and other dignitaries.
Braganza said MMC is undertaking awareness drives against plastic waste and people of Mapusa need to understand that plastic is toxic.
“We have identified black spots which are being converted into beauty spots to prevent dumping of garbage at such places. Swachh Bharat is not only the responsibility of the government or municipality but everyone should work towards attaining the same,” he said.
He said various projects are in the pipeline like the construction of municipal garage, municipality’s administrative block and meat complex.
