Unscientifically designed rumbler strips at Maria Hall crossing in Benaulim have literally been a pain in the neck for the vehicle drivers. Two sets of strips, one towards Colva and one towards Mobor direction have been laid down but the large intervals between the strips make them a spine shuddering experience to negotiate.
Further, the road has sunk visibly at one end which makes things doubly worse. Rumbler strips are effective as the speed breakers only when placed at short intervals as done on the Margao-Panjim highway, otherwise they lead to excessive tyre wear and damage to vehicle suspensions.

It is advisable to construct single speed humps and paint them in fluorescent paint (as done in Europe) to effectively check traffic speed at the road crossings.
