MARGAO: Hosts Goa ended this year’s domestic first class cricket season on a disastrous note with five consecutive defeats in-a-row in South Zone Subbaih Pillay limited overs cricket tournament.
In their last match PCA ground, Porvorim, Wednesday, Kerala defeated Goa by six wickets.
In an exciting match at MCC ground, Margao, Karanatka defeated Andhra Pradesh by one wicket. They emerged winners of the tournament with a tally of 20 points from five matches. Kerala who beat Goa by six wickets bagged the runners-up position with 17 points.
In antoher match at BITS-Pilani ground, Tamil Nadu beat Hyderabad by 26 runs, thanks to a superb century by Dinesh Kartik who hammered 119 runs from an equal number of balls with 11 hits to the fence and a six.
Goa cricketers showed poor application in this tournament. Batting first, Goa scored 219 runs in 50 overs. Skipper Sagun Kamat made 71 off 118 balls with four boundaries. Robin D’Souza came good with the bat scoring exactly 50 off 42 balls with the help of six hits to the fence. Except Amogh Desai who scored 11, the rest failed to score double figure marks.

Jagdeesh 10, Rohan Prem not out 82, S. Vishwanathan 58, Sachin Baby not out 22. Buddhadev Mangaldas 2-30, Amogh Desai 1-37, Sherbahadur Yadav 1-54).
At BITS-Pilani: Tamil Nadu, 262 for 9 in 50 overs (Abhinav Mukund 22, Dinesh Kartik 119, Baba Aparajith 51, T. Sargunam 16. C. V. Milind 3-48, Ashish Reddy 4-56, Arjun Mungala 1-37) beat Hyderabad, 236 all out in 48.2 overs (Sumanth 47, D. Rani Teja 43, B. Sandeep 42, Sandeep Rajan 52, Akash Bhandari 20. P. Amarnath 3-49, Sunil Sam 2-52, Rahil Shah and A. Prathiban one wicket each).
At MCC ground: Andhra Pradesh, 228 all out in 48 overs (D. Prashantkumar 22, B. Sumanth and Amol Majumdar 39 each, A. G. Pradeep 55, S. Darsai 22. R. Vinaykumar 4-38, Abhimanyu Mithun 3-42, K. P. Appanna 2-46) lost to Karnataka, 229 for 9 in 49.4 overs (K. Rahul 75, Robin Uthappa 50, Stuart Binny 25, Manish Pandey 21, C. M. Gautam 20, Raju Bhatkal not out 13. B. Sudhakar 3-49, A. G.
