PANJIM: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has issued fresh summons to the owner of G N Agarwal after they failed to appear for questioning and instead deputed a representative.
Avinash Julka, appeared on behalf of Krishna Kumar Agrawal at Crime Branch office, on Thursday but SIT refused to record his statement insisting on the latter’s appearance.
“Julka is not a shareholder and not a beneficiary due to illegal or legal mining of the company. He was thus not required for the probe and fresh summons were issued directing Agrawal to remain present before SIT on June 9 at 11am,” an official said.
SIT has begun questioning mining lease holders, including directors in the case covering 183 mining leases. Two mining firms were quizzed on Tuesday and Wednesday. Former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat is also being investigated in the case, which is said to be the largest of all the mining cases being probed by SIT.
