PANJIM: Exuding confidence that the BJP will win both the Zilla panchayats in North and South comfortably, BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said that the ZP elections are different from other polls.
“We are sure to win majority seats and have our control over North Goa and South Goa Zilla Panchayats,” he said.
“Every election was different issue. The issues for ZP election are also different from rest of the elections. That is why it is wrong to say that this is semi-final for 2022 Goa Assembly election,” Tanavade said.
Meanwhile, Tanavade on Friday said that Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal wrongly used the word ‘mini-Portugal’ while describing about the development.
Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) meet in Mumbai on February 15, Goyal was quoted as saying: “I believe if we were to work together to create a mini-Portugal in Goa, we could truly make it a preferred destination for the visitors from around the world.”
Tanavade on Friday said that the party has already spoken to Goyal to know what exactly he meant when he said Goa should be made mini-Portugal.
“He meant to say that the development should be done on lines with Portugal in the State. He might have used the wrong word,” he said.
