As the Road Safety week is underway the Goa Police have booked
around 35,000 cases of riding without helmet during this drive. Dy
Superintendent of Police Dharmesh Angle said that ‘riding without helmet’ is the
most violated offence. He added that around 68-70% get killed on the road due
to this. Angle further added that on Saturday and Sunday a special drive
against drunken driving was conducted by Police force of Goa, while major
stress was laid on alcometers. He added that around 161 cases of drunken
driving were booked. Angle added that these cases will go to the court and
their vehicles will get confiscated as they do not have the power to compound
them.
