CURCHOREM: A team from the mines department along with a group of locals inspected the ore stacked at the Cavrem mines on Monday morning.
According to reports, a team from the mines department consisting of head Surveyor Snehal Sangelkar, surveyor officer Jaiwant Kamat and technical assistant Suraj Kalangutkar visited the mines at Cavrem and inspected the ore stacked at the yard.
The company officials, Cavrem-Pirla Panch Ravindra Velip and some villagers accompanied the team and the inspection was carried out as per the directives of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Speaking to Herald after inspecting the Cavrem mines, surveyor officer Jaiwant Kamat informed that the team along with the villagers inspected the stacked ore and cleared most of the doubts of the villagers and assured them that extra ore, which will remain at the mines after transporting the auctioned ore, will be re-auctioned. “The detailed report of the inspection will be submitted to the government,” Kamat told Herald.
Carvem-Pirla Panch Velip, however, claimed that the government went ahead with the e-auction when the market rate was very low, causing a loss to the exchequer. “The government should have waited till the rate went up,” he said. “It should take possession of the stacked ore and engage government officials to do physical monitoring of the movement of the ore from the mines,” demanded Velip.
