₹7.54 Lakh UPI Fraud: Panaji Police Arrest Kerala Man

Panaji Police have arrested a man from Kerala in connection with a cyber fraud case involving the alleged hacking of a mobile phone and unauthorised transfer of ₹7.54 lakh through UPI.

According to police, the complainant’s OPPO A79 5G mobile phone was allegedly hacked on May 29. Multiple UPI transactions were subsequently carried out without the complainant’s knowledge, resulting in a total loss of ₹7.54 lakh.

Following a technical investigation and information gathered by the Panaji Police team, the accused, identified as Abdul, was traced to Kerala and apprehended.

Police have registered a case under Sections 318(4) and 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is underway to determine how the phone was compromised and whether others were involved in the alleged cyber fraud.
