Mumbai Police register FIR after real estate firm’s representative alleges threats and a ₹6 crore demand to allow work on its Goa project to continue without obstruction
Two Goa residents and their associates have been booked by Mumbai Police in connection with an alleged extortion case involving ₹41 lakh and a demand for a further ₹6 crore from a real estate company.

The FIR was registered by the NM Joshi Marg Police on August 27 following a complaint filed by a liaison officer associated with The House of Abhinandan Lodha, police said.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly threatened to disrupt construction work at the company’s ongoing project in Goa unless they were paid large sums of money. The complainant alleged that the accused demanded ₹6 crore in exchange for allowing the project work to continue without any obstruction.
Police have named Goa residents Siddhesh Jana Tari and Pritesh Salgaonkar, along with their associates, in the case.
Investigators said the alleged extortion took place over several months. According to police, Tari allegedly received ₹34 lakh from the complainant, while Salgaonkar allegedly received another ₹7 lakh through multiple instalments.
The total amount allegedly paid to the accused over the past five months was ₹41 lakh, police said.
The complainant has alleged that despite receiving the money, the accused continued to make demands, including the alleged demand for ₹6 crore. The threats were allegedly linked to the continuation of construction and other activities at the company’s project site in Goa.
