PANJIM: “I have not yet been officially told about my future assignment with Salgaocar FC which now has the Under-13 and Under-15 teams,” stated head coach Anthony Levino Fernandes, popularly known as Hambo.
“I have to wait and watch to decide what next. I enjoyed being with Salgaocar all these years, being in-charge of both the seniors as well as juniors. It was the most fruitful, rewarding partnership with the club. It was a win-win situation for the club as well as the players as it would allow upper mobility for the juniors, and if not have a third chance in the First Division. Everybody had a chance to grow, develop and sharpen the skills as the field was vast,” reasoned out Levino, who had in the past even coached the State teams.

“I can’t digest the fact till now that the senior team has been withdrawn from the Goa Professional League 2023-24. My relationship with the club management has been a very special and very cordial one. I can’t say anything about the future, although several clubs have made offers for coaching their teams. It is too early to take a final decision. I am awaiting the official withdrawal intimation from Salgaocar to GFA, which is yet to released, and then wait for what the management has to say,” stated Levino.
“Once the junior players are also entrusted to me, I take great care to look after their growth. Thus, the players also understand that there is a good chance to become professionals as upper mobility is always ensured within the club itself. That’s the essence of my working philosophy,” added the coach.
Manager Sanjiv Nagvekar, said that he is an official of V M Salgaocar and as such he will continue in the position.
Meanwhile, the Cortalim Villagers team which emerged second in the First Division Play-offs behind Young Boys of Tonca is eagerly looking for an official intimation about their prospects for promotion to Goa Professional League 2023-24, since there would be a vacant slot following the withdrawal from Salgaocar, which is yet to be intimated officially to GFA.
