MAPUSA: Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club clawed their way back from the jaws of defeat to hold Valpoi Football Club to a 1-1 draw, in the GFA’s Second Division League football match at Duler Stadium, here, on Sunday.
After a barren first session, Valpoi continued from where they had left and once again brought in a series of raids in the Vagator citadel.
In the 60th minute, Valpoi were placed with a golden opportunity to break the deadlock when Vagator defender Jesmon Carvalho brought down Atish Gawas inside the penalty box but Devraj Naik’s strike from the penalty spot struck the low post.
In the 83rd minute, Valpoi finally managed to surge ahead when Anuj Pokle ran down the right flank and set up Serfin Khan, whose placing strike hit the post and rebounded back into play where Mudasir Khan who was lurking nearby made no mistake to slot the ball into the nets.
The goal seemed to have settled the match in favour on Valpoi but Vagator came with the unexpected injury time equalizer as Rudresh Tendulkar curled in a free-kick from the edge of the 18-yard box to silence the Valpoi supporters.
