SGPDA wants sewage link for its markets

MARGAO: The South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) has urged the PWD to provide sewage connection for both its markets – the mega retail market and the inter-state wholesale fish market.

In a letter addressed to the PWD, Executive engineer, SGPDA Member Secretary Vinod Kumar Chandra pointed out that connecting the markets to the sewerage line will help the Authority to keep the neighbouring fields clean and green.
He admitted that waste water generated in the two markets by way of washing and cleaning of the market shops and stalls is getting disposed of in the neighbouring fields or nullahs built by the Water Resource Department through storm water drains.
The SGPDA has also referred to the directions received from the Sub-divisional Magistrate, Margao, to put in place arrangements to dispose off the daily sewage generated in the market.
