BICHOLIM: Women and Child Development Minister Dilip Parulekar on Saturday appealed to the people to donate land so that the government could set up small developmental projects like Anganwadis in every village.
The minister was speaking after inaugurating an Anganwadi at Vathadev Bicholim, a programme organised by Directorate of Women and Child Development and Integrated Child Development Service scheme at Bicholim.
Deputy Speaker and Mayem MLA Anant Shet, Karapur-Sarvan Sarpanch Divya Karkhande and Deputy Sarpanch Dheeraj Sawant were among others present on the occasion.
“Today, anyone can donate money but land is most valuable and if people could donate just about 100 mts of land in villages we can come up with a project helpful to the entire village,” said Parulekar.
“It is great that a villager donated this land in Vathadev, so that a beautiful Anganwadi could take shape.”
Stating that an Anganwadi is the first step towards the development of children, Parulekar said the BJP is looking into the problems faced by Anganwadi workers and increased their salaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Shet highlighted the various schemes implemented by the BJP government for the village and the State. Karapur-Sarvan Sarpanch Divya Karkhande and Deputy Sarpanch Dheeraj Sawant also spoke on the occasion.
