According to Panjim Police, Nikhil (29), a driver of police control room vehicle committed suicide around 12 noon, on Monday. Police said they found a note furnishing bank account details and PIN numbers of three ATM cards of the deceased. Panjim Police said that the reason for the suicide is not known.
According to his friends and relatives, Nikhil came home from duty last night. In the morning, Nikhil along with his father had gone to meet Panjim MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar and returned. Thereafter, he allegedly committed suicide, stated Nikhil’s friend from Altinho.
The purpose of meeting is not known, as Nikhil’s parents are in a shock and did not reveal anything. When contacted Kunkolienkar over phone, he said, “I am sorry; I don’t want to comment anything”.
One of Nikhil’s friends has ruled out the possibility of a love affair, which led Nikhil to take this drastic step. Nikhil was from Dhargalim-Pernem and was recently recruited in the police force as constable. After conducting the post-mortem, Panjim Police handed over the body to the family.
