Commuters have tough time in Ponda due to bad road conditions

PONDA: Ponda has indeed become a place of ponds (craters) due to the numerous huge potholes all across the town.
The haphazard digging for various developmental works has left the roads in Ponda with huge craters and uneven surfaces, causing great hardship for the commuters in the town since last two years.
The roads in Ponda town, Curti and Bandora were dug up at over a thousand places for building sewerage chambers, but the dug up roads have not been restored properly, as such innumerable potholes have popped up across the town.
And with heavy rains lashing the State, the potholes have become deathtraps for two-wheeler riders.  To add to the problem, many of the over thousand sewerage chambers constructed on middle of the road have collapsed. And to hide his substandard works, the contractor is seen filling the collapsed chambers with rubble stones. This has made driving on Ponda roads bumpy.
Statistics show that many two-wheeler riders have skidded on the roads due to potholes. The injured riders blame the contractor for the bad roads in the town.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the ongoing work of laying sewerage pipelines would take some more months to complete and till then the government would not hot-mix the roads.
