Pre-monsoon showers are probably nature’s way of finding out whether we are ready for the coming South West monsoon. If that be the case then it must be said that the Port Town of Vasco and the surrounding areas are ill-prepared for the rains.
The flash rains which came pouring down the other day resulted in flooding of several areas in Vasco. The drains and the gutters are yet to be cleared by the civic authorities. It must be said that the pre-monsoon work has not been undertaken in the Port Town even though the rains are just a few days away and this has led to water logging at various places.
The civic authorities need to give top priority to the pre-monsoon work like clearing of gutters and drains besides pruning the trees. These are the basic necessities every municipality has to undertake before the onset of monsoon.
