MAPUSA: Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club entered the X Reira Soccer Cup final after scoring a resounding 3-0 win over Saligao Sporting organized by Saligao Sporting Club, at Saligao ground, on Wednesday.
All the goals came in the first session of play. Nitesh Salgaonkar drew the first blood for Vagator in the 20th minute, scoring from a close range.
Couple of minutes later, Vagator went on to further inflate the margin when Saligao keeper failed to clear a goal bound shot to safety, where Myron Dias, who was lurking nearby pounced on the opportunity and fired the ball home, 2-0.
Minutes before the breather, Vagator made it 3-0 with Rohan Kambli scoring from the penalty spot after Myron was dangerously tackled inside the 18-yard box by the Saligao defender.
On resumption of play, Saligao tried their level best to get back into the match however their strikers failed to convert from the opportunities that came their way.
