PANJIM: The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) on Saturday unanimously resolved to urge the Speaker of State Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar to call for a full-fledged Assembly session in November-December, granting sufficient time to the legislators to raise the issues concerning the people of Goa.
The CLP that met under Digambar Kamat also decided to extend full support to the people’s protests and agitations against the mass destruction of the environment and identity of Goa through various projects including the railway double tracking, widening of National Highway 4A and laying of power transmission line passing through Bhagvan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.

Kamat said that he will be soon writing to the Speaker of the State Assembly demanding for an early full-fledged Assembly session in November-December.
Goa Legislative Assembly had called for one-day monsoon session on July 27, amidst COVID-19 scare, wherein the State Budget was passed sans opposition.
Further, Kamat said the CLP also decided to actively participate in the protests and agitations with people against the proposed projects of the government.
Pointing to Leader of Opposition’s memorandum in July to the Member Secretary and Committee Members of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) and the Union Minister for Environment, Forest (MoEF) Prakash Javdekar raising concern about the three projects, CLP condemned the ignorance shown by the Union Minister on the issue during his last visit to Goa.
The CLP members expressed concerns about the three anti- farm laws brought in by the BJP government at the Centre. The legislators will be participating in the Tractor Rally scheduled on November 8.
The CLP discussed about the prevailing COVID pandemic situation in the State. The Congress MLAs expressed deep concern about the rising debts of the State and failure of the government in financial management. The CLP condemned the act of the government of not considering the Rs 100 crore Economic Revival Plan submitted by the Congress for marginalised sector.
The deteriorating law and order situation in the State with steep rise in criminal activities such as murders, attack on women, drug trade, gang fights, robberies etc. and failure of the government to nab the culprits and the real masterminds was also discussed.
