CURCHOREM: Curchorem police on Monday arrested 30-year-old Ajit Kumar Kerketta for allegedly killing his cousin at Moisal-Bandolim, Kirlapal.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (Quepem) Kiran Podwal, both the accused and the 24-year-old victim Dilip Kerketta were natives of Jilinga, Taraboga Simdega district of Jharkhand and were working as labourers at a basalt stone crusher at Kirlapal.
“According to the complainant Sandip Kerketta, the accused assaulted the victim with a pipe following heated arguments over some personal issues”, said Podwal. The accused has been arrested under Section 302 and the victim’s body has been preserved in Hospicio, Margao.
Meanwhile, 67-year-old Umesh Kirtani, a resident of Dattwada, Sanvordem allegedly committed suicide by jumping in River Zuari on Monday.
According to PSI Sitaram Malik, Curchorem Fire Services personnel recovered the body.
and informed the police.
The body has been preserved in Hospicio, Margao for post mortem.
