MARGAO: Six more suspected dengue cases were detected near the Sao Jose De Areal church, while five suspected cases of malaria were detected in Benaulim on Thursday.
Medical officers stated that three dengue cases were positive, but the sarpanch claimed the matter was more serious.
Collector Sachin Shinde called an urgent meeting on Thursday to find the reasons for the dengue outbreak. The Margao medical officer and Sao Jose de Areal sarpanch were also present, among others.
According to the sarpanch, more people with dengue were found and were being treated at various private hospitals. The total number of dengue cases in the village is now 17.
Meanwhile, the Collector has formed a team of five labourers and a sanitary inspector to inspect areas that may have led to the dengue outbreak. Deputy Collector Ajit Panchwadkar said, “The team is cleaning water logged areas and has started fogging the scrap yards and nearby areas to rule out the possibility of any more infections.
