PANJIM: On account of Exposition of Holy Relics of St Francis Xavier to be held at Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa in the year 2024, Congress MLA of Cumbharjua Constituency Rajesh Faldessai said he has planned to carry out the beautification work of Old Goa area.
Faldessai disclosed that the proposal of which will be moved to Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), G Kishan Reddy, State Tourism, Information and Technology and Printing and Stationary Departments Minister Rohan Khaunte and Union Minister of State for Tourism and Port, Shipping and Waterways Shripad Naik for further action.
Although, the MLA didn’t mention anything about the beautification project cost estimation, he said that the process has been started and an eminent architect has been already deputed to sketch the beautification outline map. Adding, he assured that the beautification to be completed before the Exposition of St Francis Xavier.
On Monday, addressing media persons, Faldessai also spoke about his plan to put an end to the rising unemployment, construction of dykes, opposing garbage plant, which is planned to come up at Bainguinim and many other issues.
When asked about the misconception that the industrialists are holding pertaining to the unemployed youth of Goa, Faldessai said, “We won’t let the injustice happen to Goan youth.”
Adding he said, “They occupy Goan land, use basic amenities provided by our State and say the Goans are not capable of working at the industries. How do they know that Goans are not hard working? Industrialists must hire a Goan youth first and then judge our youth.”
