PANJIM: The government has assured to ensure supply of essential commodities, after Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant appealed for extension of Janata Curfew for three more days.

“In this extension of curfew, to avoid scarcity of vegetables, food items and medicines, Government has made necessary arrangements,” Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar said responding to the call of Dr Sawant.
He said that on March 24 (Tuesday) vegetable collection from farmers will take place as usual and by evening the distribution of vegetables will be ensured through private vendors. This arrangement is done to avoid panic situation in the State.
Kavlekar also thanked and congratulated Goans for their overwhelming support to the cause of fighting against COVID-19. He praised the spirit in which the people in the State remained at home, answering the call for Janata Curfew given by Prime Minister Modi.
He appealed to people to participate with same fighting spirit for three more days in extended Janata Curfew as called by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the interest of protecting Goan population from this pandemic spread.
Kavlekar stated, “This pandemic is creating worldwide impact and this can be only restricted by proper care and prevention, so each one of us need to understand the threat and take measures like social distancing, maintaining healthy and hygienic conditions, washing hands , usage of masks and sanitizers etc.”
He thanked health workers, police, officials of health department, doctors and nurses for their service in such emergency situation.
