MAPUSA: Football Clube De Bardez managed to hold Salgaocar Football Club to a 1-1 draw in the GFA’s U-20 Taca Goa League match, at Duler stadium on Sunday.
Both the goals were scored late in the second half.
At halftime, the teams were locked in a goalless draw
Both the sides played their hearts out but the strikers lost ideas on entering the danger zone.
After an initial spell of midfield play, it was the Bardez colts –started with five players from their professional league squad –attacked first, where in the 17th minute Sarineo Fernandes saw his curling effort kiss the Salgaocar upright.
Minutes into the match, Salgaocar’s Kaushik Negi ran down the right flank and set the ball on platter to Lalit Tariyal inside the danger zone, who to the dismay of his teammates blasted the ball wide.
Before the change of ends, Lalbabu Mahtd viciously charged into the Salgaocar citadel and after dancing his way past the defenders relayed the ball to unmarked Ronil F Azavedo, who surprisingly shot wide from handshaking distance.
Crossing over, the match was evenly played with hardly much action.
In the 86th minute, Devendra Murgaonkar seeing the keeper Santosh Pujar, off his line tried to flick the ball into the goal, however the keeper managed to get his hands to the ball which hit the top post before rolling out.
In the very next minute, Devendra once again attacked the Bardez side, and this time tasted success, where on being neatly set up by substitute Mahesh Kumar, he slotted the ball into the nets, 1-0.
However the Green Brigade joy was short lived, as a minute later FC Bardez brilliantly restored parity through their skipper Kirtikesh Gadekar, who gave finishing touches to Luis E Miranda’s cross, 1-1.
