Sanguem: The Sanguem fish market is facing serious sanitation problems, with vendors alleging that the premises have not been cleaned for the past two months.
Vendors said the market and adjoining gutters are filled with accumulated waste and stagnant water, resulting in a foul smell and creating conditions favourable for the spread of germs and mosquitoes.

The poor sanitation is also reportedly affecting business, with fish vendors claiming that the unhygienic surroundings are discouraging customers from visiting the market.
According to the vendors, the matter has already been brought to the attention of the Municipal Council’s Chief Officer. However, they allege that no action has been taken so far.
The vendors have expressed concern that the stagnant water and unclean surroundings could increase the risk of mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue and malaria.
They have urged the Sanguem Municipal Council and the administrator to immediately clean and disinfect the market and ensure regular sanitation and maintenance.
The vendors are seeking urgent intervention to prevent the situation from worsening and to protect both public health and their livelihoods.
