PONDA: A midnight fire destroyed vehicles, goods and equipment in two adjoining shops at Upper Bazaar, Ponda on Thursday.
Fire personnel suspect that the fire broke out due to short circuit.
The fire gutted several vehicles, including motorcycle and scooters that were brought for repairs; while in the adjacent shop, curtains, cushions and tailoring material were destroyed.
The incident took place at 12 midnight on Thursday and one Sagar Prabudesai reported the incident to the Ponda Fire personnel.
The fire also gutted the roof, besides goods inside the shop.
It is learnt that the shops were run by Shivaji Bigulji and Makdum Pirjade.
